At Ohio Valley University, we seek to transform lives in a Christ-centered academic community that integrates higher learning, biblical faith, and service to God and humanity.
Our Church of Christ roots intertwine faith and learning in the classroom. We provide a solid, liberal arts education in a climate that incorporates Christian principles into daily living.
This God-given mission guides every decision we make and impacts our daily lives.
This is a common question with a surprise answer. OVU is nestled on 266 beautifully wooded rolling acres of West Virginia. It gets its name from sitting in the center of the gorgeous Mid-Ohio Valley. West Virginia touts itself as being “Wild & Wonderful” because of its marvelously rich landscape that offers something for everyone, from beautifully serene walking trails to wildly running white water rapids.
Ohio Valley University proudly competes in 13 NCAA Division II sports. Men compete in intercollegiate baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, golf, wrestling, and lacrosse. Women compete in intercollegiate basketball, cross country, golf, softball, soccer and volleyball. As members of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference we enjoy highly competitive sporting events in an environment of camaraderie.
Where to begin to answer that question? In addition to social clubs, movie nights in the Student Center, late night “study sessions”, and the general crazy days of campus life, the OVU Student Government Association or the Office of Student Life are always planning something exciting. Need some examples? How about a Hog Roast, an evening of great Indie music with The Hunts, or perhaps a great big mud slide is what floats your boat? Trust us. Ohio Valley University’s secret middle name is fun.
