VIENNA, W.Va. (Feb. 12, 2013) – Ohio Valley University’s students are preparing to entertain the community with their annual variety show - Expressions! - Feb. 21-23.
This year's theme has a medieval twist, “What a Knight.” Four OVU social clubs will perform musical comedy skits and compete for top honors from a panel of judges. The four student social clubs and the titles of their musical skits are: Delta – “Survivor: Camelot Island”; Kappa – “Jest a Hero”; Sigma – “Dragon Tales”; and Theta – “Two and a Half Knights”.
The OVU Jazz Ensemble, directed by Ernie Cornell, will perform. Four students have been selected for Expressions! Players (hosts and hostesses): Lindsey Powell (St. Marys, W.Va.), Jacob Glaspell (Vienna, W.Va.), Aaron Ray (Alliance, Ohio), and Chelsea Jez (Alliance, Ohio). These students will introduce each act in medieval style.
“The show has been a tradition at OVU since the 1970s,” said director of Expressions! Laura Hamm. “It is very entertaining and something the entire family can watch. Laughter will be abundant!”
Expressions! performances are open to the public February 21, 22 and 23. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. All performances will be held in the Erickson Theater, OVU South Campus on College Parkway in Parkersburg. Concessions will be sold by the Student Government Association.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children younger than 12. Tickets may be reserved at www.ovu.edu/EXPRESSIONS or by calling 304-865-6080.
