Founded in 1943, the national Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) is an educational leadership organization dedicated to advancing best practices and policies for the success of each student. There are 170,000 members in 136 countries that are from a variety of careers and subject areas.
Education majors at Ohio Valley University who are members of the ASCD chapter on campus benefit from meeting with guest speakers and also have various opportunities to increase their experiences of working with students. The ASCD has the responsibility for staffing OVU’s After School Tutoring Program each semester. The tutors in this program volunteer to work with students from Neale Elementary School and assist them with completion of homework assignments and engage in other enjoyable learning activities.
