Music scholarships are awarded by audition in the spring. Students apply online for a music audition to a particular performing group. A student may audition for more than one performing group if they desire.  OVU music scholarships are not limited to students who plan to major in music.

Express Scholarship 

• Sing one accompanied contemporary song
  
• Sing one unaccompanied hymn
  
• Be prepared for an aural skills test (sight-reading and pitch memory exercises)
• Letter of recommendation from your high school choir director or private music teacher
  
  

A Cappella Singers Scholarship 

• Sing one art song, aria or folk song to be accompanied by piano; this should be the type of piece one would perform at a solo and ensemble competition
  
• Be prepared for an aural skills test (sight-reading and pitch memory exercises)
• Letter of recommendation from your high school choir director or private music teacher
  
  

Jazz Ensemble Sholarship

• On trumpet, trombone, saxophone, bass, piano or drum set, play a jazz tune to show technical proficiency and/or improvisational skills
  
• Sight reading
• Letter of recommendation from your high school band/orchestra director or private music teacher

Chamber Players Scholarship

• On strings, woodwinds, brass or piano, play a classical piece or a movement of a sonata
  
• Sight-reading
• Letter of recommendation from your high school band/orchestra director or private music teacher
