OVU has developed an Accounting certificate for students who have completed, or are completing a different Bachelors Degree to allow students from College of Professional Studies to continue their education without have to meet our specific requirements, improve course offerings to students outside of the traditional program, market our accounting courses to local businesses, and provide a track for business men/women to prepare for the CPA without the normal degree requirements
The certificate requirements are as follows:
Prerequisite of a Bachelor’s Degree consisting of 128 hours, which including the following courses:
Principles of Accounting 6 hrs Marketing 3 hrs
Statistics 3 hrs Management 3 hrs
Finance 3 hrs Economics 3 hrs 21 hrs
Upper Core Courses:
Intermediate Accounting I 3 hrs Business Law I 3 hrs
Intermediate Accounting II 3 hrs Business Law II 3 hrs
Auditing 3 hrs Business Ethics 3 hrs
Accounting Systems 3 hrs Managerial Accounting 3 hrs
Introduction to Tax 3 hrs Accounting electives: 9 hrs 36 hrs
Current accounting electives consist of:
Gov’t Accounting (3 hrs)
Cost Accounting (3 hrs)
Federal Tax (3 hrs)
Advanced Accounting (3 hrs)

Course Offerings:
Currently courses are offered during traditional time slots on the main campus of OVU.
As the demand for non-traditional offerings increase, courses will be taught during evening or weekends, still meeting the traditional 15 week requirement.
