To meet the writing competency requirements of Ohio Valley University, students entering in fall 2005 or later must do the following: 

1. Enroll in an English (ENG) course each semester until College Writing II (ENG 132) has been successfully completed.
2. Earn a grade of at least a C in both College Writing I (ENG 131) and College Writing II (ENG 132).
3. Earn a grade of at least a C on three writing-enhanced courses that are numbered above 200. At least one of these courses must be in the student’s major.

Note: Writing-Enhanced Courses are designated as such in the catalog. Students who entered Ohio Valley University before the fall of 2005 are required to pass the English Proficiency Exam.
