The Honors Program is committed to the university’s ideal of transforming lives, a process that means more than merely learning skills or preparing for a specific career. Transformation involves finding connections between the classroom and life and embracing those connections in every facet of one’s existence. Because of this, we view the Honors Program as a social club as much as an educational curriculum. From informal gatherings to meals with professors, honors students are constantly developing relationship within and without the group.
In addition, the Honors Program regularly sponsors travel special events both locally and in the surrounding area, such as:
- historical and cultural sites
- lectures
- devotionals
- performing arts events
- zoos and science exhibits, etc.
Additionally, honors students are in prime position to represent the university in special opportunities off campus, both in the local community and in the nation at large.
The Honors Program at Ohio Valley University is a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), and students in the program will have the opportunity to participate in NCHC-sponsored conferences and activities.
