#17 Slippery Rock escapes with a win

Vienna, WV (September 12, 2009) - #17 Slippery Rock University would score on a header from Jeremy Deighton (SR-Broadview Heights, OH) from a cross into the box in the 7th minute of the game and made it hold up to take a close contest from the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University.

Both sides worked hard defensively to limit good scoring opportunities.  The Scots had scoring chances from Roberto Jofra (JR-Miami, FL) and Zach Branca (SO-San Marcos, CA) turned away by Slippery Rock to preserve their shutout.

SRU held a 15-7 margin in total shots with both sides having 3 shots on goal.  OVU held the margin in fouls 17-12 with Slippery Rock holding a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Next up for Ohio Valley University (1-5-0) is a match with Divison I foe Marshall University at Huntington, WV on September 15, 2009.
