VIENNA, WV – Ohio Valley University will host an advanced Summer Hoops School July 20 through July 22 for boys in grades 7-12.
The hoops school will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at OVU’s Snyder Activity Center. Instructors include experienced OVU men’s head basketball coach Mike Snell and OVU varsity basketball players. The hoops school will feature advanced instruction and intense learning including college level fundamentals. Individual instruction will focus on ball handling, passing, shooting, movement, rebounding and defense. Team instruction includes man-to-man defensive positioning, motion offense and spacing and fast break drills. The ChalkTalk classroom session will focus on team offense, team defense, team attitude, motivation, goal setting and academics.
At the end of each afternoon session 5 vs. 5 games will be played to incorporate the new skills learned. The cost to participate is $150 per student and includes a free t-shirt. Students may pre-register online by logging onto www.ovu.edu/summerhoops.
Students may also register at the door the day the camp begins, on July 20, from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. at OVU’s Snyder Activity Center off College Parkway.
