Midnight Madness Basketball Event Set for October 18

VIENNA, WV  – The Ohio Valley University Fighting Scots will host their annual Midnight Madness basketball celebration Tuesday, October 18 beginning around 8:30 p.m. at the Snyder Activity Center, located off College Parkway.

“Our students and fans always enjoy Midnight Madness,” said Dennis Cox, OVU athletic director. “It’s an exciting time for the community to come out and see a preview of our basketball teams as they showcase their talents.”

The OVU Student Government Association organizes the annual event with special contests and activities scheduled throughout the evening for the public and OVU students to participate in. Activities include three-point shootouts, a dunk contest, point guard skills challenge, door prizes and food. In addition, guests with clean court shoes will be permitted time to play knockout and pickup games on-court.

The 2011-12 OVU Fighting Scots men’s and women’s basketball teams will be introduced and intra-squad scrimmage games will take place prior to midnight. The entire event is open to the public. Admission to the event is $1 or Midnight Madness attendees are asked to bring one canned food item. Items collected will be donated to Old Man Rivers Mission in Parkersburg.
