Vienna, WV – Members of Ohio Valley University’s Lady Scots women’s soccer team were recently recognized for their contributions academically and athletically.
“This is an incredible group of student-athletes,” OVU Athletic Director Dennis Cox said. “We are very proud of their accomplishments on the field and in the class room and wish them the best in all their future endeavors.”
Marie Buffy, a math major from Shanksville, Pennsylvania, is the daughter of James and Tina Buffy. Her achievements as a midfielder earned her the honor of WVIAC Player of the Week. Her academic achievements include the Dean’s List. She plans to graduate in Mary 2013. She would like to one day work as an accountant for Public Debt.
Amanda Martinez, a psychology major from San Bernardino, California, is the daughter of Angela Martinez. She played the position of defense for the Lady Scots and earned accolades as a WVIAC Player of the Week. She will graduate from OVU in May 2012 and plans to pursue a Master’s degree in psychology.
Abbi Menear, a native of Vienna, West Virginia, is the daughter of Dennis and Janna Menear. She is an elementary education major at OVU with plans to graduate in the fall of 2012. Her hope is to eventually teach in an inner-city school. On the field Menear served as the Lady Scots goalkeeper. Off the field she has excelled and earned high marks on OVU’s Dean’s List.
Hannah Rollins is from Sterling, Virginia, and the daughter of Stephen and Lydia Rollins. She will graduate from OVU with a degree in psychology in December 2011. Rollins served as a midfielder and defense player for OVU.
