Ohio Valley University community members are encouraged to bring vehicles to campus. To ensure the safety and security of all community members all vehicles operated on campus must be registered with the Campus Operations office.
- A Registration form can be obtain from the receptionist office or completed/updated online to provide information of operator's vehicle, license plate numbers, make, model and color of the vehicle.
- A registration permit will be assigned to the vehicle and must be displayed from the mirror of the vehicle at all times to park on campus. Vehicles not displaying a permit properly may be fined 15.00 dollars and/or be towed at operator's expense.
- Parking is prohibited on all campus driveways, curbs, in front of any fire hydrants and emergency access lanes. Areas directly in front of most buildings including the water fountain circle is also considered emergency access lanes.
- Driving on campus lawns, sidewalks, or the dirt path between campuses is prohibited.
- The speed limit on all campus property is 25 m.p.h.
- Prior permission must be granted by the Campus Operations office to make automobile repairs or park disabled vehicles on campus. Abandoned vehicles will be towed at operator's expense.
If community members fail to abide by the vehicle regulations, they should expect to be ticketed. Persistent violations may result in wheel locking, towing at the operator's expense, or losing driving privileges on campus.
All ticket violations will be charged to the student's account and may be paid in the Business Office. If students have unpaid fines, they may be restricted from taking final examinations, receiving grades, graduating, or receiving final transcripts.
The fine schedule is as follows:
Failure to Register a Vehicle -- $15.00
Driving off Roadways -- $50.00
Speeding -- $50.00.
Illegal Parking:
1st Offense $25.00
2nd Offense $50.00
3rd Offense $100.00 (see Dean of Students)
