Transfer Student Agreement Signed Between OVU and WSCC
|
VIENNA, WV--Ohio Valley University President Dr. James A. Johnson and Washington State Community College President Charlotte R. Hatfield, Ph.D. signed an articulation agreement Friday, June 1 regarding transfer students to OVU’s College of Professional Studies program.
The agreement will implement a new policy between the College of Professional Studies at Ohio Valley University and Washington State Community College in that all students completing an associate’s degree through Washington State Community College, will be considered to have fulfilled all general education requirements for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Organizational Management upon transfer to Ohio Valley University. This policy applies to not only the Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees obtained through Washington State Community College, but also to the Associate of Applied Science, Associate of Applied Business, and Associate of Individualized Study.
“Ohio Valley University and Washington State Community College both exist to serve students in higher education in the Mid-Ohio Valley, and having this mission in common, wish to collaborate in providing additional opportunities for growth,” Johnson said. “Over the years, many of our students and staff members have chosen Ohio Valley University to continue their education. We are pleased to participate in this agreement that provides a smooth transfer pathway, increases access to higher education and strengthens the economic development of the Mid-Ohio Valley,” Hatfield said.
The College of Professional Studies at OVU serves adult learners and operates on a graduate cohort model that integrates classroom instruction and real-life experience. The course work is particularly well-suited for those students who are already in the work force and who are looking to complete a four-year degree for the first time or who are returning for a second degree.
The College of Professional Studies at OVU averages 40-50 cohort graduates each spring.
