VIENNA, WV -- Ohio Valley University President Dr. James A. Johnson and Ashland Community and Technical College President Dr. Gregory D. Adkins signed an articulation agreement Friday, June 6, regarding transfer students to OVU’s College of Professional Studies program.
The agreement will implement a new policy between the College of Professional Studies (CPS) at Ohio Valley University and ACTC in that all students completing an associate’s degree through Ashland Community and Technical College (located in Ashland, Kentucky), who otherwise meet CPS admission requirements, will be considered to have fulfilled all general education requirements for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a major in Organizational Management as offered through the College of Professional Studies ADVANCE program upon transfer to OVU.
This policy applies to all associate’s degree programs at ACTC, including the Associate of Arts, the Associate of Science, and the Associate of Applied Science. ACTC offers associate degree options in over 25 career fields.
“Ohio Valley University and Ashland Community and Technical College both exist to serve students in higher education in Tri-State Area, and having this mission in common, we wish to collaborate in providing additional opportunities for growth,” Johnson said.
“I am very pleased to sign this agreement,” Adkins said. “The transfer agreements we have with Ohio Valley University and other universities in the region continue to add value to the academic credentials students earn while at ACTC.”
The College of Professional Studies at OVU serves adult learners and operates on a graduate cohort model that integrates classroom instruction and real-life experience. The course work is particularly well-suited for those students who are already in the work force and who are looking to complete a four-year degree for the first time or who are returning for a second degree.
The College of Professional Studies at OVU averages 40-50 cohort graduates each spring.
