1. Students are expected to attend at least 70% of the scheduled Chapel & Assembly sessions each semester (i.e., 50 sessions during the fall semester and 52 sessions during the spring semester).
2. Students also must meet minimum requirements during each semester as outlined below:
a. The fall semester is divided into two blocks. During each block, students must attend at least 70% of the scheduled Chapel & Assembly sessions (i.e., 25 sessions in both blocks).
i. The first block begins on Wednesday, August 22 and continues through Tuesday, October 10.
ii. The second block begins on Wednesday, October 11 and continues through Friday, December 7.
b. The spring semester is divided into two blocks. During each block, students must attend at least 70% of the scheduled Chapel & Assembly sessions (i.e., 26 sessions in both blocks).
i. The first block begins on Tuesday, January 8 and continues through Wednesday, February 27.
ii. The second block begins on Thursday, February 28 and continues through Friday, April 25.
3. If a student fails to meet the attendance requirements for the first block of a semester, he or she will be placed on restricted status for the remainder of that semester.
4. If a student fails to meet the attendance requirements for the second block of a semester and/or fails to meet the attendance requirements for the entire semester, he or she will be placed on restricted status for the following semester.
5. Restricted status means that a student will not be allowed to participate in intramural and other on-campus student activities and will not be allowed to represent Ohio Valley University at various events, including performances, competitions, and presentations.
6. At the beginning of each semester, students must examine any extenuating circumstances that might cause them to be unable to meet the minimum attendance requirements, and submit a typed explanation of those circumstances to the Dean of Students by the end of the first full week of the semester. The Dean of Students will evaluate the circumstances and, if necessary, place those students on an individualized attendance plan (IAP).
