Mike Snell
Ohio Valley University alumnus Mike Snell returns to us and has taken the reigns of our men's basketball program. Mike is a coach in the truest sense. He brings a great deal of experience, leadership, and enthusiasm with him. He has the student's best interest in mind and is excited to help them grow as a person, as well as an athlete during their collegiate years.
Snell received an Associate of Arts Degree from Ohio Valley in 1983 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Ohio University in Athens, OH in 1985. He went on to earn a Master's of Science degree in physical education from Ohio University in 1995.
He has more than 11 years of coaching and teaching experience. Most recently he served as the assistant men's basketball coach and head men's tennis coach at Marietta College in Marietta, OH. Prior to that, he was the head men's basketball and tennis coach for Thiel College in Greenville, PA. During his tenure with the Tomcats, Snell tied the school record for most wins in a season, won the regular season conference title, and earned accolades as the 2003 PAC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year.
In addition, he served in multiple roles as West Libery State College in West Liberty, WV including assistant men's basketball coach, athletic department academic supervisor, adjunct faculty in physical education and business administration, athletic facility supervisor, assistant men's golf coach, and SAAC advisor.
During the 1990s, Snell worked with OVU as an assistant men's basketball coach, as well as an assistant men's basketball coach and head golf coach for Marietta College.
A native of Sardis, OH, Snell and his family currently reside in Bridgeport, OH and attend the National Road Church of Christ in Wheeling, WV. Snell and his wife, Kristy, have one daughter, Lyndi.
