Ohio Valley University began the new Occupational Preparedness Program (OPP) in the fall of 2009. This program helps students with ACT scores under 18 (SAT equivalent of 1280) pursue the opportunity for higher education at the associate and bachelor levels. Students in OPP will take 2 semesters of pre-selected classes.
The program is designed to fulfill two purposes:
- A completer will be more marketable in the job place as compared to a high school graduate, because the courses will allow the completer to have stronger skill sets in the many different areas in which his or her courses are based (i.e. - math, reading, writing, computer technology, etc.).
- Completers will gain stronger academic skills in order to pursue the opportunity for higher education at the associate and bachelor levels.
