The OVU Edge is designed to give you an Edge on your college career while still in high school. Earn college credit while enjoying the college experience on our campus. This will help you to better prepare for college academically, mentally, and emotionally.
Specifics
The OVU Edge is a program for students who have completed their sophomore and junior years of high school and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. The students that attend will have a daily schedule that consists of chapel, class, field trips, community service, meals in the homes of OVU community members, and recreational activities.
Cost
$450 - This includes room and board, meals, cost for the class, everything!

Courses
You will have the opportunity to take one of the following courses and get an early start on your college career!
History of Mental Illness: This course will review abnormal behavior in a historical context. Students will gain an understanding of psychopathology and psychological disorders. Students will also be exposed to the historical conceptions of abnormal behavior including the supernatural tradition, the biological tradition, and the psychological tradition. Course includes field trip to the former Weston State Hospital, now known as the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.
- Students may earn credit for PSY 293B or HIS 293B.
Introduction to Restoration History: A survey of the Restoration Movement in America from its beginnings in the 18th century to the present, highlighting the leading personalities, events, and documents that have shaped the movement. This course may include a field trip to see sites associated with the Restoration Movement.
- Students may earn credit for BIB 293A, HIS 293A, or REL 293A.
Everyday Science: This course is designed to study science as a human enterprise, in part by demystifying everyday misconceptions about science. Students will use sound scientific methods to generate, manipulate, analyze and present a variety of human and earth resources data using a range of classroom and laboratory tools and technologies. The course will emphasize group learning, problem-based learning, hands-on laboratory experimentation, and fieldwork. This class includes a field trip to Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
