Vehicles

Ohio Valley University community members are encouraged to bring vehicles to campus. To ensure the safety and security of all community members, the following vehicle regulations should be followed.

1. All vehicles operated on campus must be registered with the Campus Operations office. Registration requires proof of insurance, license number, and make/model & color of the vehicle.

2. Once registered, a valid permit sticker must be displayed in the vehicle. Permits will be supplied at the time of registration.

3. Parking is prohibited on all campus driveways and emergency access lanes. Areas directly in front of most buildings also are considered emergency access lanes.

5. Driving on campus lawns or sidewalks is prohibited.

6. The speed limit on all campus driveways is 25 m.p.h.

7. The Campus Operations office must grant permission to make automobile repairs or park disabled vehicles on campus.

8. If community members fail to abide by the vehicle regulations, they should expect to be ticketed. Persistent violations may result in wheel locking, towing at the operator's expense, or losing driving privileges on campus.

9. All fines must be paid in the Business Office. If a student fine is not paid within 72 hours, it will be charged to the student's account. If students have unpaid fines, they may be restricted from taking final examinations, receiving grades, graduating, or receiving final transcripts. Community members may appeal a violations notification to the Campus Operations office within 72 hours.

The fine schedule is as follows:

     Failure to Register a Vehicle -- $15.00
Illegal Parking -- $25.00 (first offense); $50 (second offense); and $100 (third offense)
     Driving off Roadways -- $25.00
     Speeding -- $50.00.
