Dr. Harold Shank
Dr. Harold Shank serves as the ninth president of Ohio Valley University. He also represents Christian Child and Family Services as their national spokesperson for vulnerable children.
Prior to coming to OVU, Shank worked both as a minister and professor. His ministry experience included preaching for the 1500-member Highland Church of Christ in Memphis, TN, church planting in Milwaukee, WI, along with short-term missions and inner-city ministry. As a professor he taught graduate courses in biblical theology for 21 years at two Christian universities.
Author of numerous books and over 100 journal, magazine, and encyclopedia articles, his most recent book is Listening to His Heartbeat–What the Bible Says about the Heart of God (College Press, 2009). His books includeLoosening Your Grip (1995), Up Close and Personal – Embracing the Poor (2000), Children Mean the World to God (2001), College Press NIV Commentary of the Minor Prophets (2001), and It’s All About God (2004). After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Bible from Oklahoma Christian University and Master of Arts and a Master of Arts in Religion from Harding School of Theology, Shank completed a Ph.D. in Theology at Marquette University.
Dr. Shank and his wife, Sally, have two adult sons: Daniel, an assistant professor of psychology at Missouri University of Science and Technology; and Nathan, an assistant professor of English at Oklahoma Christian University. Harold and Sally attend the Camden Avenue Church of Christ in Parkersburg, WV.
