In the Fall 2019 semester, total student headcount enrollment was 318. Of these students, 143 (45%) were female and 175 (55%) were male. 16% of Ohio Valley University undergraduate students were nonresident aliens, 3% were Hispanic/Latino, 5% were Black or African American, non-Hispanic, 61% were White, non-Hispanic, 1% were American Indian or Alaska Native, non-Hispanic, 0% were Asian, non-Hispanic, 2% were two or more races, non-Hispanic, and 12% were classified as race and/or ethnicity unknown.

The majority of Ohio Valley undergraduate students participate on collegiate athletic teams. 56% of Ohio Valley University’s undergraduate students are from out-of-state (excluding international students). 89% of undergraduate students are 24 years and under, 10% are 25 and older, and 1% is age unknown.

Federal Student Financial Aid Penalties for Drug Law Violations

A conviction for any offense, during a period of enrollment for which a student was receiving Title IV, HEA Program (federal) funds, under any federal law involving the possession or sale of illegal drugs will result in the loss of eligibility for any Title IV, HEA grant, loan or work-study assistance (HEA Sec. 484(r)(1)); (20 U.S.C. 1091(r)(1)).

56% of the first-time, full-time undergraduate students who enrolled in the Fall 2018 semester returned to Ohio Valley University in the Fall of 2019.

The retention rate for students who began in Fall 2019 and returned in Fall 2020 was 54%.

VOTER REGISTRATION

Ohio Valley University, as a participant in the Federal Title IV Student Aid programs, is required to advise you that voter registration forms for West Virginia are available at the website of the West Virginia Secretary of State at https://ovr.sos.wv.gov/Register. Additional information related to voting in West Virginia is also available at this site.


CARES ACT

Ohio Valley University was a recipient of CARES Act Funds for Emergency use under Section 18004 (a)(1). The university expects to receive a total of $500,000. The required portion will be used for emergency relief for students. An estimated 65 students were determined to be eligible for funds thus far. The maximum award is equal to the full federal Pell grant of $6,195 for the 2019-2020 academic year. Approximately 200 students were eligible for federal student aid during the Spring 2020 semester. The institution surveyed students to evaluate need based on the Department’s parameters published. Students have been informed of the process for applying for funds and the application deadlines based on their class rank and federal aid eligibility.
