ovu to host the vespers in concert Sept. 20

Sept. 5, 2016 (VIENNA, WV) – A unique blend of bluegrass, folk, and alternative music, nationally-acclaimed recording artists The Vespers will perform at Ohio Valley University on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8:00pm in Roberts Hall on the main campus. Tickets are $10 and the concert is open to the public. OVU students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a valid campus ID.

The concert is part of OVU’s annual Pig Roast community event which is also open to the public and features fall festival games, a caricature artist, pumpkin carving and more. The barbeque dinner will begin prior to the concert and the cost for the dinner is $8 per person.

“The last time The Vespers were on campus they had just cut their third album Sisters and Brothers. We’re very excited to welcome the band back to campus again this year,” said Leachelle Moore, OVU’s director of student involvement. “They were a huge hit with our students and are the perfect fit for our annual event. This is a great opportunity for our students and the local community to enjoy a great meal and concert together--and get to experience a taste of campus life here at Ohio Valley University,” said Moore.

The Vespers have built an extensive underground following simply through word of mouth and heavy touring. The band, based in Nashville, Tenn., is uniquely made up of two sibling duos: the Cryar sisters (Callie and Phoebe), and the Jones brothers (Bruno and Taylor). The four have distinguished their sound with an arsenal of acoustic instruments and harmonies only siblings can create.

The band received national acclaim as SiriusXM’s Top 10 New Folk Albums of 2012 and Huffington Post’s Best Concerts of The Year in 2012.

Their showmanship generates a roller coaster of sight, sound, and emotion and their inherent chemistry continues to set them apart. The band has independently released three full-length records, the most recent entitled “Sisters and Brothers,” and have toured the country since 2009.
