Vienna, W.Va.—Significant changes are in store for the Stanley Student Center this coming academic term. Thanks to school organizations such as the Student Government Association (SGA) and the OVU Student Life Department, recent renovations are making the area more beneficial to students. The addition of a full-service kitchen recently enabled volunteers to serve dinner to incoming students during International Orientation.
The Center’s availability to students will increase to as many as five days a week with specific academic and spiritual activities embedded in the schedule. For example, area Churches of Christ are being recruited to lead devotionals in the facility, and planning is underway to host the collegiate segment of FriendSpeak, a program available to any OVU student wishing to practice conversational English. Sponsored by Grand Central Church of Christ, the service and evangelistic program uses Bible passages as readings.
As of now, anyone who is connected to Ohio Valley University is welcome to request the Student Center for private events. Details are being finalized on ways to make the building more accessible to the community as well as beneficial to the University through the availability of private reservations.
