Kim Wile, alumna of OVC, has accepted position of Dean for the College of Education.

Educators provide the foundation on which the building blocks for success are formed. When the new Dean for the College of Education was selected, it was imperative that this individual embody excellence and passion for seeing lives transformed. Kim Wile, an alumna of OVC, has accepted the challenge to come alongside young educators in training and equipping them to teach the next generation. “The start of a new school year is such an exciting time, filled with laughter, anticipation, and new beginnings. I love sharing that excitement and my passion for teaching as we train new teachers to successfully enter the workforce,” Wile remarked.

Dean Wile’s interest in education began at an early age as she shared a love of history with her grandfather. She recalls “climbing on cannons at Fort Necessity, walking in the very meadows where George Washington roamed, and even traveled to D.C. to attend the funeral of President John F. Kennedy. Even though I was so young, the images are ingrained in my mind. What choice did I have but to be a “history girl”?

Following her formal education at OVC, Oklahoma Christian, and Marietta College, Wile served within the Warren Local School District. Her various roles include teaching American History, AP U.S. History, and Mock Trial. All the while, she dreamed of returning to her alma mater and was recently given the opportunity as an Adjunct Faculty member. “When I was a student at OVC, Dr. Phil Sturm was my professor, mentor, and friend. I always wanted to teach at OVU with him. So many years later, that dream came true.”

Dean Wile brings the support of her loving family in her husband Mike who serves on staff at Warren High School. The couple have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and their “greatest joy”, a granddaughter, Kate.

Speaking of her time at OVU, "I felt like I was coming home. My time teaching here has been extraordinary and I look forward to my new position as dean.”
