"We Rise Up"
During our first chapel of the new semester, President Ross welcomed students back to OVU by sharing a sign that said "We Rise Up." He told us that when he read the sign's message, he knew the words were for such a time as this at OVU. He challenged us to hold doors for strangers, say good morning, tip generously, smile at passersby, talk to the lonely, be patient with one another, buy a stranger coffee, and engage in other acts of kindness. He asked us to judge less and understand more.
These suggestions resonated with us as something all of us could do to "rise." So we adopted "We Rise Up" as the mantra for our semester. We continually experience "We Rise Up" moments on campus and hope you'll engage in "rising up" too! Our hope is to become more like Jesus through these small acts of kindness that can change others' lives in big ways.
