Director of Church Relations
A native of Parkersburg, W. Va., Tom D. Butterfield lives a life dedicated to serving the Lord’s church. In 1962, Tom began his full-time gospel-preaching career at East Penn Church of Christ in Pennsboro, W. VA. Tom joined Ohio Valley University’s Center for Church Relations as Director of Church Relations in 2006, but that did not cool his passion for spreading God’s word. He has continued to preach at Pursley Church of Christ in Pursley, W. Va., throughout his time at OVU.
As Director of Church Relations, Tom brings to bear his wealth of training and experience to organize and lead the Ohio Valley University’s annual Christian Bible Teachers’ Workshop designed for men and women called to teach God’s word to Bible students of various ages. Tom also organizes the Center’s ever-popular Annual Gospel Quartet Concert.
Tom studied Bible and counseling at Ohio Valley University and Public Speaking at West Virginia University and Chicago’s American School. Tom also studied Grief Counseling at Ohio State University.
Tom and his wife, Nina, have four children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. They currently worship at Pursley Church of Christ in Pursley, W. VA., where Tom preaches part-time. Tom enjoys writing, reading, full-time RV living, woodworking, socializing and spending time with family
